7 Questions You Must Ask Before Considering Your Spring Program

Let me give you a few seconds to let that sink in….

Are you excited?

Are you nervous?

Let me fill you in on a little secret… Most people are shitting themselves!

The first time you’re asked to the beach shouldn’t create an anxiety attack. It should be one of the best feelings ever. You’ve survived the colder months and now you deserve to be pumped for the best time of the year – SUMMER

But still, you’re a bit scared right?

Don’t worry, you’ll be fine. This is the time of year where every trainer will be promoting their up and coming, life changing, high end, next level, transformation program, where you can get ripped, shredded, toned and in the best shape of your life in a matter a weeks

Sounds.. Well… A little overwhelming right?

I’m not ripping on PT’s here. I’m pointing out that Spring is hands down the best time to start a new program, however it seems impossible to know which one is right for you. Any trainer will agree that the best way to see great results is by finding a program that suits you

For majority of people spring is the most important time to train. If this is you, i’m hoping the following 7 questions will point you in the right direction

Number ONE: What do you actually want out of your program?

Are you prepared to dive head first out of your comfort zone in order to get the best results possible? Or are you just looking at running around a little bit, meeting some cool people and being able to say you’ve signed up for something? Quite obviously both of these scenarios require 2 completely separate groups. Do you research and make sure the work load is suitable to what you’re looking for

Number TWO: Does your trainer help you set goals?

I’m not talking about “lose 5kg” or “run 10kms”. I’m talking about specific goals for you to work towards that you can base your training around. If your goal doesn’t have a start and finish date how will you ever know if you’ve accomplishment anything and how will you determine your success?

Number THREE: How bad do you want it?

This goes both ways. Do YOU genuinely want to be there? Do THEY genuinely want to be there? Are you willing to work and is your trainer willing to push you? If you really want it and so does your trainer, you’ve hit the money. The results will come flying in and you’ll enjoy the process

Number FOUR: Does your trainer care?

In my opinion the single handed most important part of working with a trainer is trust. At MG Fitness there are a lot of great success stories, including one member losing 30kg’s. Do you think they would have accomplished this without trusting in me and my program? Absolutely not.

Number FIVE: What happens outside of the sessions?

I’m not saying you should be hitting the Cross every saturday night with your trainer. By connecting outside of the sessions you will be developing a better relationship, not only with your trainer but with the group of people you are working with. This could be anything from attending workshops to social events. This not only adds purpose and excitement, but creates better relationships. The closer the group is, the harder they’ll work as a team. This will also work even if you’re training one on one with your trainer. Potentially even more so. Plus, If the only time you’re trainer is in touch with you is when they’re being paid, how much are they really giving back?

Number SIX: Has your program seen success in the past?

This is very important for someone who is clear on their goal and is willing to do what it takes to get there. Trainers are great talkers. You want someone who can get you where you want to be and the best way of measuring this is by the knowing the success they have had in the past. This also goes both ways. You could be training with a trainer who has a very impressive success rate, however if you’re not willing to put in the work, there’s really no point. I have put the work in with clients in the past and they haven’t held their end of the deal. I had to let them go

This is a massive point! So many people are after that “quick fix”, however I have some news for you.. There is no magical pill to get you shredded or toned over night. Companies are becoming so damn good at marketing and give you the assumption that if you stick to their cleanse, body wrap or 7 day trial you will look like the superimposed model in their picture. Don’t trust these fads, do your research and find a program that suits you
